When you live in the present, you don’t give yourself the space to overthink, you don’t give space to anxiety, and you are embracing all of your authenticity to reach your full potential. A mindful mindset leads to better work life balance, and it helps today’s successful women to feel confident in where they are and where they’re set to go next.
Even those with a great deal of mindfulness experience may find themselves in a not-so-mindful space from time to time, but there are strategies you can use to get yourself back to the present where you need to be. At Technalink we encourage mindfulness reminders for our compassionate leaders, and a few of these that you can use in your everyday life include:
• Have a mindfulness space – It’s hard to ignore a space. It can be a nook in your home or even a corner of your workspace, but it’s a space you set aside simply to get back in touch with your own mindfulness. When you start feeling overwhelmed, spend a few moments in your space to tune back in with your present.
• Set yourself check-in alarms – Because it’s so easy for mindfulness to slip away from you, it’s never a bad idea to give yourself little reminders throughout your day. An alarm every couple of hours that just reminds you to check-in with your ability to be in the present is a great way to stop the hustle and bustle of the day from taking over.
• Say your name – Your name has a certain power. No matter what you’re doing, or what you’re hearing, when you hear your name called, you’ll usually hear it louder and clearer than everything else going on around you. You can use this to your advantage. When you start getting wrapped up in a busy moment, call to yourself either out loud or in your mind, and let yourself direct your focus back to you. It’ll give you a way to check-in and refocus on the present all at once.
