Technalink knows that it’s all too easy to get caught up in the momentum of something, especially if it’s an ongoing worry or even a crisis. Worrying about an upcoming meeting, or even the state of the world as it impacts your life or business, can create a loop where you get caught in thinking and fretting about it.
But for real benefits to your well-being, it’s important not to let that momentum control you throughout the day. Fortunately, there’s an accessible way to put a halt to this movement, and that’s mindfulness breaks.
Meditation Doesn’t Require Hours
A mindfulness break is great for your sense of well-being because it can give you a moment of calm, or at the very least, interrupt a recurring rhythm of stress. Mindfulness breaks can be carried out in any way that makes the most sense to you, whether that is taking some deep breaths, focusing on a favorite image, or even just taking in your surroundings and being conscious of your observations.
The important thing here is that a mindfulness break is a choice to give yourself a moment of calm. Rather than letting a stressful thought or mood continue its momentum and build, you have now interrupted it, which causes that momentum to break, losing intensity and energy.
In the same way that letting a fire burn uninterrupted allows that fire to spread, the same is true for stressful or anxiety-laden moods. You can “douse” these feelings and prevent them from building up with periodic breaks of mindfulness or meditation for your well-being. Remember, meditation and mindfulness can be good ways to give yourself a “reset” over the course of the day. Just find a method that works for you, whether that is breathing or using an accessory, such as fluorite prayer stones, to bring your focus into the present and something of your choosing, rather than a stressful mood that moves in and builds up.
