Technalink knows that the businesses with the best chance of survival in uncertain times are the ones that retain the enthusiasm and loyalty of employees. One of the best ways to do this is through soulful leadership practices like ensuring you maintain good lines of communication. And one of the best ways to do this is to practice being concise.
Less Is Always More
It seems like it shouldn’t require elaborate explanation, but at the same time, when people have something they want to say, they often take as much time as they can to do it. However, when it comes to soulful leadership and establishing strong lines of communication with your employees, you should always take the opposite approach. One of the strongest communication skills you can nurture is the ability to be concise. This is particularly true when it comes to messages you want to convey to your employees.
Being concise means being efficient with your thoughts. For example, if you’re emailing a message to the entire staff, does it really take five pages to explain everything? Could it be done on one page? Could it be done in a single paragraph? The same is true in face-to-face conversations. Does the idea you’re trying to get across really require ten minutes? Even five? Can you get your point across in just a few sentences that take less than a minute?
When you are concise, that makes your ideas shorter, stronger, and easier to remember. For the purposes of soulful leadership, it also gives you an opportunity to get your ideas out and, perhaps more importantly, gives you the chance to be a listener and take input from the people you are interacting with.
