When learning how to meditate, you’ll quickly see just how easy meditation can be from anywhere. Soulful leadership and mediation go hand-in-hand, so you may find yourself meditating in the office, on the train, at home, or even in a restaurant during your lunch break. While you can meditate from anywhere, there’s just something special and particularly peaceful about having your own dedicated meditation space.
At Technalink we focus on anyplace is the right place for meditation, but there’s a different sort of experience to be had in a staged and dedicated area. A few tips for creating your own meditation space are:
• Focus on minimalism – While maximalist spaces look great and bring a ton of interest into any area, they’re not quite what you want during meditation. While you meditate you’re to clear your mind and allow your thoughts to flow freely, which may be difficult if you’re surrounded by décor and general busyness. In your meditation space, scale it down and focus on building a calming atmosphere instead of an exciting one.
• Let your personality shine – While keeping it minimalist is ideal, this doesn’t mean your space should be void of your personality. Meditation is a highly personal thing, focusing on your own emotional state and general well-being, so your space should feel like your authentic self. Use fabrics you love, colors that speak to you, and simple décor pieces you feel connected to.
• Choose a peaceful spot – Building your meditation space in the busiest part of your home or office might be counterproductive. To limit distraction and to put yourself in a peaceful state of mind, choose an area that sees lower traffic, has natural light or a certain coziness to it, and that you’re able to feel completely at ease spending time in.
• Soften the colors – Bright colors are exciting, interesting, and energizing, so they’re perfect for certain living spaces that call for this sort of energy. In your meditation space, however, you may wish to keep your color palette soft and comforting to bring these feelings into your meditation sessions.
• Consider storage for your meditation tools – Soft music, mala prayer beads, or loose stones, you may have tools you use to enhance your meditation sessions. Bowls, organizers, or other storage options keep your meditation enhancers where you need them when you need them.
