We all have a lot to do every day, so increasing our productivity seems to be at the top of everyone’s mind. We have all tips for multi-tasking, prioritizing, and time management that can help us be more productive. However, what will make you the most productive is your mindset. If you have a positive mindset, you’ll be in awe of how much you can get done. Unfortunately though, with a negative mindset, every task will seem like an exhausting challenge. Luckily, if you act with intention, you can change your mindset and be more productive.
Positivity Nets Productivity
A positive mindset about work will directly increase your productivity. First, a positive mindset uplifts you and provides you with the mental energy to get things done. Positivity also helps you focus on the reason you are working. This kind of big picture thing not only motivates you, but can reduce the stress of completing your tasks. Positivity also helps you work better with others, making it so more gets done. Further, when you clear your mind of negative thoughts, you free your mind to be creative and find opportunities for gratitude.
Identifying Negative Feedback Loops
In order to combat the negative thoughts, you will need to first identify them. Today, listen to your inner monologue while you are at work. Do any of these phrases sound familiar?:
● “I’m so busy, I’ll never get anything done.”
● “This task is so boring, I don’t want to do it at all.”
● “I always end up doing the most work.”
● “I can’t do this, it’s too hard.”
● “Things wouldn’t be this hard if…”
These are often played on repeat in our minds when we are having a tough day. The good news is everyone has these kinds of negative thoughts sometimes. It’s normal to have negative thoughts, but you don’t have to believe them.
Affirmations To Change Your Mindset
When these negative thoughts appear, it’s very easy to believe them. If you hear the same thing over and over again, it can slowly start to become self-affirming and falsely appear as the truth. Thus it is important to start breaking yourself of these negative thoughts. A great way to do this is with positive affirmations. Just like with negative thoughts, they can also be self-affirming. Unlike negative thoughts, they will begin to reflect the truth. Instead of the negative thoughts above, try:
● “Today is an opportunity to learn and grow.”
● “Large goals are achieved with small steps.”
● “I am valued and helpful.”
● “I am intelligent and focused. I can do any task.”
● “When I speak my needs, I receive them abundantly.”
Reciting these affirmations can help you shift your mindset to a more positive space. An effective way to set your affirmations is by using mala beads. You will hold the mala beads gently in your hands and as you count the beads with your fingers, you will repeat your affirmations. I recommend using clear quartz mala beads. Clear quartz is a powerful stone for dispelling negativity and purifying your mental and spiritual plane.
Using daily positive affirmations can help you shift your mindset from negative to positive. With a positive mindset, not only will you get more done, you’ll enjoy your work more. As the Dalai Lama said: “In order to carry out a positive action we must develop a positive vision.”
