Time can fly by in the blink of an eye, and when you’re busy at work or at home, it seems to go at lightning speed. How you approach your time management doesn’t just help to keep you organized, it also keeps you in check when it comes to your own work/life balance. A minute or two here, an hour there, time wasted is time that could be allocated to doing the things that really matter.

This time at the end of the day can be reinvested in mindful meditation, your favorite hobby, quality family time, or anything that keeps you happy and centered.
A few tips for time management that we suggest at Technalink include:
- Give yourself a time audit – Before you learn how to better manage your time, you’ll have to take an honest look at how you spend your time now. For instance, you may be under the impression that it takes you just 30 minutes to have a morning cup of coffee, answer e-mails, and get settled into the office in the morning, when in fact it really takes you close to an hour. Breaking down how you spend time at work and at home can help you to map out how that time could be better spent.
- List your goals – What do you want to get out of your time management evaluation? Do you want to spend your time at work better to increase productivity? Do you want to have more time left at the end of the day for hobbies? Do you want to cut down on “wasted” time scrolling social media at home? Having a list of goals is motivation to better manage your time and make this a permanent practice.
- Create task lists – Task lists help to keep you on track, and the more detailed the list, the better it works. Creating to-do lists for each day, with set tasks and what time goals you have for each, works to ensure you’re giving yourself honest accountability
