Much like scented mala prayer beads, like Rudraksha seed mala prayer beads, music can add quite a bit to your meditation. Incorporating the senses into your meditation can help to relax you and improve your soulful leadership, turning your meditation into a more all-encompassing experience. While you may not be able to meditate with music all of the time, like while at the office, it’s a great way to approach meditation while at home or during travel. Using music in your meditation is simple, and it’s a skill that will come naturally while providing immediate benefit.
The first thing to focus on is choosing your music. Something too fast paced or energetic can pull you out of your meditation, or leave you feeling too anxious or revved up to get in the proper headspace to clear your mind. Meditative music albums are a great start in bringing music into your meditation, and these can show you what types of music best suit your meditation style and frame of mind. As you grow more experienced with music meditation, you’ll then be able to make your own playlists or choose your own tracks that best suit how you meditate and clear your mind. When it comes to music in meditation, everyone’s personal tastes will be just a little bit different.
A great way to bring music into your meditation is also with noise canceling headphones. If you’re meditating on public transportation or in a busy home, these headphones will force you to cancel out all the other sounds overwhelming your senses, and focus solely on the rhythm, your body, and your mind. It’s important not to make the music too loud in your headphones, and to keep it at a balanced neutral volume.
While a great help, headphones aren’t necessarily necessary to great meditation. If you are able to find a quiet and relaxed place in the home where you can steal some time away for meditation, you can simply play the music on a stereo or even your smartphone. Without headphones, and without the sensation of wearing them, you may find that it is easier to incorporate music into your meditation in a seamless and fruitful way.
At Technalink, we encourage employees to embrace the power of music in their meditation, just as we encourage them to embrace the power of scent. With music, you may even find that clearing your mind and listening to your body and your breathing is easier than ever before.
