Have you ever just had a bad day? You start off wrong, and the negative energy seems to compound. We at Technalink believe that while a great day starts early, it’s never too late to turn it around, and there are things that you can do to ensure your day starts off on the right foot. For compassionate leadership, learning how to get to that positive place is important, and it typically starts early. 5 tips for starting your day with positivity are:
1. Get good sleep
Quality sleep and enough of it can really be considered your main ingredient to a great following day. Sleep helps your mind to be sharper, your moods regulated, stress levels low, and even your digestive system on track, and you really feel it when you don’t get enough! Try to get at least 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep per night, and make sure to shut off all electronics about an hour or so before bed to ensure your best quality sleep.
2. Start off with a shower
While showering at night might seem easier, and allow you more sleep at night, picking the morning for shower time actually helps to get your day started right. Hopping in the shower helps you to wash off the residual sleepiness and fill yourself up with a bit of energy, while also giving you a bit of time to collect your thoughts and get yourself centered for the day.
3. Get a little exercise in
Exercise gets your endorphins flowing, lowering your stress and anxiety levels while promoting clarity and a healthy metabolism. Negative thoughts melt away and you’re left with a more centered and prepared sense of self. Many compassionate leaders recognize how important morning exercise is to creating balance from the start.
4. Think positively
Sometimes you’re not going to get enough sleep, you won’t have time to properly get ready, or you won’t be able to get your exercise in. Maybe the freeway is blocked for miles, or maybe you woke up to some less than great news. By thinking positively, and making it a habit to do so, you won’t need to rely on everything going well around you to have a good day, and you’ll be able to think yourself into making something positive from your situation. Learning to think positively will also make carrying out spiritual management practices a natural thing.
5. Eat well
Starting your morning off hungry is starting your morning off all wrong, and the simple act of having a healthy breakfast can make a massive difference in regulating your blood sugar, lowering stress, and providing you with a much better mood.
When your day starts off right, it’s much easier to carry that positive energy throughout the rest of it. With these simple tips for giving yourself a positive morning, you can lead yourself right into many more great days.
