Spiritual management of your day can be practiced at all times while you’re in the office, and you may not realize how simple it can be to encourage this soulful leadership on a day to day basis. At Technalink, we have a few simple tricks and techniques you can use to be a more compassionate leader, and these can all be done right here at the office. Even when things get difficult or stressful, these strategies are those you can embrace when you want to keep soulful leadership in the foreground, and not lose your inner balance when times are tough.
3 simple ways to practice mindfulness at the office are:
1. Start with a choice – This is a technique that can actually start at home the moment you wake up, but it can be applied just as easily all throughout the day as well. What starting with a choice refers to is instead of rushing into a task or an activity, you take the time to breathe first, center yourself, and choose when to begin. This reminds you to take a second to clear your mind before switching gears, and allows you to start a new task without excess stress stemming from a previous activity.
2. Eat mindfully – During the day, you may want to rush through an easy lunch and get back to it, thinking this is the most productive way to go. In truth, you may feel like you’re making better use of your time, but you’re actually hindering yourself and causing your productivity to go down. Rather than feeding yourself quickly with something unhealthy, take time to really nourish your body and eat your lunch mindfully. Make a healthy and balanced choice, and stop to enjoy the taste, texture, and appearance of the food, using your lunch break as a moment to recollect and rebalance yourself as you energize.
3. The power of the sit – Just sitting, even for only a moment, can be a huge help in clearing your mind and managing your day mindfully. When your computer is booting up, or you have just a couple minutes between tasks, take the time to sit at your desk and recognize the sensations in your body. Pick out where you may have tension, and release it, or what may be bothering you inside, and release those stresses, as you reconnect with yourself over the course of just a few moments. If you have mala beads or stones like garnet gemstones on hand, this would also be a perfect time to center yourself with a brief meditation session as well.
At Technalink, we know how important practicing small steps in mindfulness is while going about your day, and we feel that these simple tasks can put you well on your way to a more spiritual management of your business and yourself.
