Eliminating Stress At Work

March 23, 2016 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

Eliminating Stress At Work Stress isn’t good for us, and this rings true for our physical and our mental health. When we feel stressed, our connections are blocked, and our pathways blurred, disallowing us from knowing where we’re going and where we need to go next. Unfortunately, stress is often simply a part of life, and that means we need to know just what to do when it happens, and how we can clear our minds once again.

The first thing you should learn to do to combat stress at work is learning how to breathe deeply. This is something that can be done anywhere, and only takes a couple of seconds to a couple of minutes, and it can really help to clear your mind and make you simply feel better. A few deep breaths will lower your blood pressure and give you a way to focus inward on finding a solution to any problem. Try inhaling for 5 seconds, from the diaphragm, hold for 5 seconds, and then exhale for 7 seconds through the nose.

Another great way to help work stress is to focus on your personal health, as this can equip your body better to handle the unexpected stresses that may come your way. Eating a healthy diet filled with wholesome fruits, vegetables, and proteins, as well as getting good sleep each night can bring our bodies to a point that allows them to handle stress better. When we feel good physically, we feel better mentally and emotionally, and the best way to feel physically good is to treat our bodies right!

Lastly, you’ll want to learn to cool down and not allow your body to build stress upon stress leading to an overreaction. Holding grudges or hyper-focusing on negative occurrences will only make stress worse, and when we learn how to give ourselves a quick cool down, you’ll be able to handle each situation individually, rather than like a compounding problem.
