How to Enjoy the Holidays While Still Running Your Business

How to Enjoy the Holidays While Still Running Your BusinessTo many, the holidays mean spending extra time shopping, going on a vacation, partying with friends, attending reunions, and simply celebrating with the family. However, for entrepreneurs and small-to-medium business owners, doing those may not be as simple.

Part of business leadership is sacrificing some of the luxuries that life has to offer. While most of the sacrifices are for the best, you actually don’t have to sacrifice holiday enjoyment. Here at Technalink, we believe that you can still run your business effectively while enjoying the holidays. Check out the following tips.

1. Plan ahead.

You need to plan your time off in advance. If possible, plan with your team. You have to make sure that in your absence, someone will take over leadership. So, it’s also important that the days off of your staff are aligned with yours.

2. Designate leadership.

If you already have team leaders or there are people in your team who can handle leadership, allow them to do so. Appoint qualified staff that you trust for leadership roles and give them the blessing to make decisions while you’re on a holiday.

3. Work ahead.

If you have important and urgent tasks that can’t be delayed, do them before you go on holiday. Without pending tasks, you’ll have peace of mind and you’ll be able to enjoy your vacation even more.

4. Use the time to empower yourself as a leader.

Even when you’re on a holiday, you can still do little things to continue improving yourself as a leader. You can read a book on leadership or take a short online course. Empowering yourself, in a way, will also help empower your business.

5. Get in touch with your business network.

The holidays also give you a chance to touch base with your business acquaintances. Call them up or send them a message wishing them happy holidays. This simple way can help you strengthen and develop business partnerships.
