Desire, Direction, and Mindfulness in the Business World

Desire, Direction, and Mindfulness in the Business WorldThere’s nothing wrong with wanting more purpose, growth, success, and peace from your work life. Desire is actually what gets us moving in the first place. It pushes us to try, build, lead, and keep going, even when things start feeling uncertain.

But in the business world, desire can get messy when it’s not grounded. It’s easy for us to chase what looks good on paper while it feels wrong inside. It could be a promotion, a bigger audience, more money or recognition. None of these things is inherently bad, but if you lack direction and mindfulness, they can leave you feeling more chaotic and busy rather than fulfilled.

Don’t Look at Desire Like It’s the Problem

Many of us feel guilty about wanting more. This is especially true for women who are often expected to be everything for everyone and somehow not want too much for themselves. Desire can be helpful here and can show you what really matters. It can point to a piece in your life that may be missing and remind you that you’re ready for a new season.

The real question here is if you even have desire, and if you do, is it leading you somewhere meaningful? Or is it a dead end?

Mindfulness Keeps You Honest

Mindfulness helps you notice when you start drifting away from yourself. It brings you back to the present and slows down the mental clutter that has you react instead of respond.

In business, this matters. It shapes how you lead, how you make decisions, and how you handle stress. It also helps you stay more connected to what actually feels true in your life in that moment. It isn’t just about what sounds impressive to everyone else around you.

When desire, direction, and mindfulness all start working together as one, ambition is greater and feels healthier and steadier. It becomes more honest and sustainable. If this kind of approach speaks to you, The OM Factor: A Woman’s Spiritual Guide to Leadership is a great starting point for looking deeper at how to build success from a more grounded and mindful place. Even better, it’s now in audiobook format.
