Technalink knows that one of the overarching goals in most people’s lives is to be happy. That’s quite natural, as happiness is a desirable state for anyone to want to attain for as long as possible. However, seeking happiness can be a challenge, especially for people who aren’t precisely sure what it is.
Well Being Is A Choice
Happiness, or any positive state of well-being, is often about making a decision, even if it doesn’t seem that way. In many cases, the ability to be happy is more about choosing to maintain a particular outlook, rather than taking a particular action. For example, while many would assume a billionaire would be happy because they have no worries about meeting material needs like paying mortgages or affording college tuition for their children, they are often extremely unhappy because they choose to focus on what they still lack rather than acknowledge the abundance they already have.
In an inversion of this, happiness can sometimes occur even in moments of great need. Children can often be happy despite not having everything they want. The reason is that they can find appreciation and even gratitude in the moment they are living through.
This is possible for us to achieve as adults as well. We can improve our well-being and achieve happiness more frequently in our lives when we stop focusing on happiness as a chase to acquire what we don’t have, and look at it as positive appreciation and gratitude for what we do have. Good meals, good experiences, good people, friends, family, love in our lives, and many other things can all be celebrated in the present as happiness.
