Give Your Meditation Some Intention This Holiday SeasonTechnalink, like everyone else, is gearing up for the holiday season, as major events bring friends and family together and make things busy at work as we prepare for a new year. Unfortunately, it can be easy to get overwhelmed at this time of year as activities, obligations, and responsibilities pile up both personally and professionally. This is why it can be incredibly helpful to learn how to meditate and do it with a specific intention.

Intention Provides Direction

In the same way that planning a work day with a goal in mind can ensure you work productively, meditating during the holidays with some kind of intention can help you achieve mindfulness, but also give you some direction during a hectic time period. It’s critical when you learn how to meditate to personalize this experience and make it relevant to you, your needs, and your interests.

So learn how to meditate this holiday season with goals or intentions that make the most sense to you. This can be done in a few crucial ways.

Resource Management

One important intention you can focus on during the holiday season is your own personal resource management. Your work responsibilities won’t lessen during this period, and may, in fact, actually increase. But on top of this, there will be additional obligations from friends and family to celebrate holiday periods, which can be extremely demanding.

During this holiday season, you will be investing time, effort, and money in all of these activities. It can be helpful to plan ahead for how much you can commit yourself in a safe and healthy way. Holidays are busy, but they should not involve burning yourself out or feeling overwhelmed with too many things to do in not enough time.

Learn how to meditate with the intention of managing yourself and your personal resources for this busy time. Decide how much to commit, and set out your “red lines” for when things are too much and too demanding. By taking the time to define these parameters, you have a much better chance of sticking to them, since you know yourself and know where your boundaries are. Goals For The Holidays

Another important intention to give yourself when learning to meditate this holiday season is to define your personal goals. There may be things that are important for you to do, such as spend some quality time with an extended family member, such as a grandparent who is ill. Conversely, because these are family gatherings, there may be potential friction and arguments with a relative, such as an uncle, where the two of you sit on opposite points of view on a particular issue, and you want to avoid an argument.

Learning how to meditate with an intention for what you want to accomplish—or avoid—during the holiday season can be important in helping you to focus on what matters most. As the holiday period arrives and things get busy, it’s easy to become overwhelmed with all the things you are supposed to do at this time of year for your work, friends, and family.

However, it is crucial—and central to the holiday spirit—to also ensure that you do or experience something for yourself during the holidays. That can be as rewarding as spending precious time with a beloved relative you don’t see often, or the minor victory of getting through a family gathering without getting embroiled in a loud display of arguing that upsets everyone.
