What Is Meditation?

November 14, 2025 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

What Is Meditation?Technalink has always believed in the power of meditation, but it may be time for some people to revisit this concept and what it can do for them. We will always promote it as beneficial to people’s lives, but what exactly is it again?

Clearing Your Mind

Meditation is a habit you form or an action you incorporate into a routine that aims to provide a clear, focused mind. In many cases, meditation may be achieved by striving for a state of mindfulness, but it is important to understand that meditation itself is an action or practice. Mindfulness is a quality or characteristic.

Clearing your mind through meditation brings many benefits, such as helping to reduce stress and even putting you in a better position to analyze and solve problems. It’s important to understand that this is not a process of controlling your thoughts, which is essentially impossible. Instead, meditation is about directing your focus.

Mindfulness, for example, is one way to achieve this, which is why it is so frequently used during meditative practices. Instead of a person being at the mercy of whatever thoughts come into their head, mindfulness guides people to pay attention to the present, to observe the thoughts that enter and leave, or to concentrate on their environment, their own body —such as their breathing —or anything else. The mind is cleared by not daydreaming or ruminating, but instead actively paying attention to one thing.

Doing this over time makes it easier to achieve a state of clear-headedness, and incorporating it into daily life goes a long way toward helping people better control their reactions to what happens to them. If you’d like to know more about meditative practices in business, The Om Factor: A Woman’s Spiritual Guide To Leadership is available in print, digital, and audiobook formats, bringing her personal insights and experiences to making this approach work in the world of business.
