Technalink was successfully founded on principles of inclusion and diversity, but it is also the result of the hard work of women in business. However, despite this being the 21st century, there are still certain challenges that only women business face, and if this is something that you, as a woman, are considering for your career and ambitions, it’s important to know what you may be facing.
Work-Life Balance
This is a key concern for many women, especially those who still aspire to be mothers and raise children. For better or worse, being a mother still carries more responsibilities and expectations for women in business than for men. Every woman’s situation will be different, but this is likely to be a major concern for most who also want to be an active influence in their children’s lives, not just their career.
Gender Bias
Unfortunately, while women have made strides in recent generations, it can’t yet be said that sexual equality exists. Gender biases are one of the more challenging hurdles to overcome, as perceptions can color a great many aspects of the working environment. For example, it is a clear case of gender bias when a man gets angry and yells during a meeting, and he is viewed as tough and assertive, but when a woman does the same thing, she is viewed as emotional and illogical. These biases can both intentionally and unintentionally alter perceptions of women’s actions in the workplace and remain a challenge that must be anticipated and addressed.
