You likely look in the mirror every day, and you’re familiar with who you are, but do you know who your authentic self really is? Learning to discover your authentic self is learning that you’re more than your anxiety, your skills, your social circle, your professional role, and even more than your conscious leadership. At Technalink we believe that each person is a wealth of treasure and possibility, but unlocking that treasure means unlocking the authentic self that’s held within. We rarely show our authentic selves to the world, and we may even rarely show this person to ourselves.
Compassionate leadership has a heavy focus on aligning the self with others, but this is best done when who you’re aligning is your authentic self. It’s the self that’s absent of ego or influence, and it’s who you feel and what you think at the very core of your being. It’s where your values come from, and what provides the keystone to your very foundation.
Meditation is an excellent way to get to know your inner you. When you free your mind of conscious thought, you allow your inner voice to shine through. Observing the thoughts that pass through your mind, what you think may surprise you, and when you find these surprises you may also be surprised to find that you’re having a mental conversation with the authentic person that’s held within.
To get in touch with your authentic self, ask yourself a few questions during your meditation sessions. The next time you sit down to meditate, start your session with a simple question – who am I? Allowing your thoughts to simply flow after asking this question will show you what your true values really are, what you think of them, and what your nature truly is at its very core. You’ll see the layers getting stripped away, leaving you with a picture of not just who you are, but why you are that person and what they need to be nurtured.
Getting to know your inner you and looking into that mirror of authenticity is important to personal growth in compassionate leadership. The OM Factor focuses on teaching you how to create your own mirror of authenticity, and now on audiobook, it’s never been easier to learn just how to find out who you truly are.
