The Best Plants To Bring Calm Into Your Office

June 10, 2022 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

The Best Plants To Bring Calm Into Your Office Indoor plants don’t just look good – they actually make us feel good! At Technalink we always encourage bringing a little life into any workspace, and one easy way to do this is with a gorgeous office plant. Studies have looked into just why plants make us feel so good, and they’ve yielded a few interesting results. In research conducted by NASA, it was found that plants can remove up to 87% of toxins in the air in a 24-hour period as they absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Another study found that indoor plants can boost productivity by around 15%, and another still found that being in the presence of plants can reduce stress and boost mood at the same time.

Plants make it just that much easier to feel good throughout your day, and in conjunction with meditation using mala prayer beads or meditation stones, they can give us calmer and smoother days. While not all plants really thrive in an indoor office environment, there are some that do:

• Aloe vera – Aloe plants have a long history of being soothing and comforting, whether it’s soothing a sunburn or soothing your mind during a busy day. Aloe vera is considered to be nature’s air purifier, and it can thrive in just about any environment with very little water or general daily care.

• Snake plant – Neither slimy or slithery, the snake plant is hardy and beautiful plant perfect for growing in the office. This plant was used in NASA air purification research and was found to be one of the most effective indoor plants at purifying the air in controlled studies. Snake plants are hardy and require little water, but they can accumulate dust over time.

• Peace lilies – With beautiful calming white flowers, peace lilies are a real show-stopper when it comes to office plants. They’re considered to be low-maintenance plants and require very little natural light to thrive. For offices with fewer windows, this might be just the plant to beautify your workspace.

Plants help us to increase our mindfulness, improve our well-being, and they give us something bright and happy to remind us of all we have to be grateful for throughout any given day. Alongside meditation, they can be that small but mighty tool you can use to improve your everyday
