Meditation is an essential component of spiritual management, and it’s something that Technalink encourages with its own staff. However, for some, meditation brings with it the idea of retreating to the mountains and finding isolated venues to contemplate the universe.
While that is one aspect of meditation, it’s far from the only one. Meditation is something that can happen, in the workplace, with only a few minutes at a time to spare, and here’s how you can get started in your own home or place of work if you’re short on time.
Set Aside The Time
If you’re only taking up five minutes, this shouldn’t be too difficult. However, it’s also essential to try to minimize distractions. If you can find a place with a minimum amount of noise and interference, that’s ideal. For some, this may be as simple as closing the door to the office.
Breathe Deeply
Entering a state of relaxation is key to a five-minute meditation. Proper breathing is one of the fastest, most reliable ways to establish this. Remember to breathe deeply and steadily from the diaphragm, not rapid, shallow breaths. Establishing this rhythm quickly helps you to relax.
Focus Your Mind
This doesn’t mean try to concentrate on nothingness, as that may be too much for a five-minute time frame. Instead, focus on whatever thoughts enter your mind, but then gently allow them to leave, and focus on the next thought that enters. By doing this, instead of concentrating on trying to be in the moment, you are in the moment.
Scale Up
Once you feel comfortable meditating for five minutes, strive to do it for more extended periods. You can even incorporate aids into your meditation, such as agate stones that can help you reach the desired state with greater speed and ease. Once this becomes a regular habit, it’s a great way to keep stress from getting out of control.
