It’s not easy being a business leader today. And when you’re trying to use spiritual management to lead, it can be a hard road at times. One of the biggest challenges for business leaders is that they cling to their mistakes and the things that have happened before instead of looking to the future.
The Problem With The Past
At Techanlink, we’ve seen far too often just how detrimental it can be to do this. Dwelling on the past – whether it’s ten years ago or ten minutes ago – can have numerous negative impacts on your life including:
• Reduced self esteem by thinking of something that went wrong
• Constantly blaming yourself for a mistake or problem
• Letting the past keep you depressed
• Letting the past distract you from your current responsibilities or your successes
It’s important not to ignore the past, of course – you can always learn from mistakes and occurrences that happen and use them to help you do better. But, dwelling on the past isn’t anything that will help.
Looking To The Future
Instead, those using spiritual management need to focus on the future instead of dwelling in the past. Doing so lets you plan ahead, stay positive, and more. Some tips for doing this include:
• Keep a set of short term and long term goals in mind, and always focus on moving towards those goals.
• Reward yourself when you attain goals.
• Remind yourself that you can’t change the past – only learn from it. Then, learn from it!
• Continue developing plans and strategies for your business and yourself, not dwelling on what could have been or what should have happened.
The main thing to keep in mind is simple – your life is moving forward and so is your business, with or without you. You need to make sure to be there moving with it at all times. Instead of dwelling on the past, keep your eye to the future. It’s what good spiritual management means, and will help you lead your business into a great, exciting future.
