Technalink is part of a new wave of entrepreneurship, business practices and even daily life habits that is focused on spiritual management. One of the primary ways that this is achieved is through nurturing a greater state of mindfulness over the course of a day. The term “mindfulness” may sound familiar to you, and you may have heard it thrown around a lot recently in circles as varied as psychological counseling to self-improvement. So what is mindfulness? Why is this something that is being introduced into the workplace? How can this kind of spiritual management help your business?
Be Here Now
It’s quite often the things that are easy to say are incredibly difficult to do. “Get better at playing the piano” involves years of relentless practice. And the idea of “living fully in the moment” sounds like something that everyone does all the time, but in actuality, few people in modern, western 21st century life actually touch on this state. Mindfulness seeks to change that.
Mindfulness is about being completely in the present moment, being aware of it, and not judging or analyzing it. So sitting in a café, looking up social media and getting angry or laughing at comments on Twitter is not actually mindfulness. Mindfulness is about putting everything aside and paying attention to what is happening and fully experiencing it.
Why It Works
This may not seem like a big deal, but in fact, mindfulness has a lot of benefits for a person, both physical and psychological. When was the last time you woke up and really paid attention to what aches and pains your body had, and where exactly they were happening? When was the last time you stopped and really looked at the emotions you were experiencing at any given moment, rather than trying to motivate yourself to experience the desired, or proper emotions for a moment?
By actually being aware of what is happening around you and within you, you can reduce stress, build up a greater understanding of things and people that happen to be around you, and become less distracted. The ability to let go of whatever is in your head, and focus on the moment, is something that can be applied to a goal you are working on, reducing secondary thoughts and distractions and allowing you to do what needs to be done.
In other words, mindfulness is a way to get rid of distractions and emotional obstacles, and become more centered, focused and productive.
