When you think of a great place to meditate, where do you think of first? Is it your home? A quiet outdoor space? A meditation studio? In actuality, for the spiritual entrepreneur, that place is the workplace, and for several reasons. At Technalink, we have realized the power of workplace meditation, and we want to help today’s compassionate leader to realize it, too.
First and foremost, your workplace is where you’re most likely to feel the majority of your everyday stress. Even with soulful leadership, the daily challenges that arise at your workplace are likely to rile you up a bit, and this goes for everyone in your office. Implementing workplace meditation can help to not only alleviate these stresses in the present time but to create a space that is less likely to invoke feelings of stress simply by the environment alone. Workplace meditation will help your brain to associate the workplace with a place of calm, which enables you and your team to work better and feel less stress from the start.
What many don’t understand is that your workplace meditation doesn’t need to be a big time commitment. Setting aside 10 to 15 minutes per day to find a quiet space for meditation is enough, and you don’t have to allow a half hour or more of your day in order to make positive strides with meditation. The few minutes here or there that employees may spend catching up on old e-mails or doing other busy activities could be spent unwinding with meditation instead and still make a difference.
Workplace meditation has been shown to change the entire atmosphere of workplaces, and turn spaces that many associate with feeling overwhelmed or stressed into spaces that encourage creativity and collaboration. Not only does meditating at work help the people to be better, but the atmosphere of the physical space to improve as well.
