Travel is often a requirement of the spiritual entrepreneur, and a day filled with travel can be a day filled with stress. We at Technalink know that the best way to alleviate this stress is through meditation, but how can you find a time and a place to meditate when you have a day filled with moving around? Not only is it possible, but it’s actually pretty simple, and it can be done no matter where your business may take you.
If you’re flying to your destination, airplane rides both long and short are excellent places to fit in a bit of meditation during business travel. While in the air, you can simply use your mala beads to meditate in your seat, and take in all of the sensations around you. If the plane is noisy, which is sometimes the case, a pair of headphones or earbuds can be an immense help in centering your focus during air meditation time. If noise isn’t a concern for your meditation, you can actually use the general din of a busy airplane to help in clearing your mind and focusing on your affirmations or inner sensations.
Meditation during transport isn’t reserved for only plane travel, and it can be done while as a passenger in a vehicle or on a train as well. While the ride may be a bit bumpier, which could cause some distraction, focusing on how the ride is creating sensations in your body can actually aid in connecting your body, mind, and spirit in a unique and beneficial way.
If you’re at your destination already, and you’re seeking some time for meditation between business meetings and other tasks in order to center your compassionate leadership, there are stops along the way you can make to provide room for meditation as well. In a quiet restaurant, for instance, request a seat in a more private area away from other patrons, and use the time before or after having a meal for some valuable meditation time. Either before or after nourishing your body, this time allows you to nourish your mind as well.
Times of busy business travel can be difficult for the compassionate leader in terms of excess stress, but utilizing small periods of meditation can be a huge help in clearing the mind and seeing the bigger picture. Using these opportunities to meditate can provide just what is needed to keep the spiritual entrepreneur on track.
