Although some small business owners don’t consider this, every company really does have its own personality. It is no surprise that many conglomerates are referred to as entities, but small businesses should not be excluded from this observation. What is also interesting is that just like people, businesses can have a personality that they show to the world, and a different personality that they show inside.
At Technalink, we like to think of our company personality as caring, fun, smart, and empathic, although there are other positive facets that also make up our won entity. However, our internal and external personality is the same, and this shows through as success and growth. For this reason, honoring the spirit of your company may require changes that are the culmination of human growth.
Finding Connections
One of the biggest things in ensuring internal and external personalities to be in sync is to consider the connections between people in the workplace. Essentially, the internal personality can be seen as the company culture, while the external personality is more brand and reputation. Generating alignment thus becomes the creation of the company spirit.
In looking at brand and reputation as the external personality, this can also inform the owner of the focus on personal goals for the business. However, alignment results when the goals of the business and the goals of employees or professional partners can see a mutual beneficence. In this way the owner further nurtures the spirit of the business by supporting an allowance of integrated energies.
By relinquishing control and finding the alignment of process, owners also help nurture a culture of spirituality in the workplace. As this becomes the internal personality, further balance can be found through the external expression of the brand, and this also moves the company further along in success. The true spirit of the company becomes apparent as mindful action and trust in the alignment of energies is manifest in every aspect of the business.
