At Technalink, one of our greatest assets to our success really is all of our employees. Very early on in the formation of the company, along with using principles of spirituality to build a cohesive culture in the organization, we also found that team structures and dynamics played an astounding role in productivity.
As we continued to use these principles in developing the company, we also came to realize that there were several factors which seemed to be contributing to organic growth:
- Team structures – Skill sets, personalities, and the type of tasks that were required of the team were all considered in building our employees. We also looked to switch out leaders with different tasks, in order to nurture these abilities and this independence.
- Team tasking – Another important point was to look at the actual tasks we were asking of teams. This also meant that while a task may be challenging, it would never be impossible, and the result was that more creative thinking and pride in one’s job became evident.
- Employee education – While innate skill sets are important, we also recognized that it was our organizational responsibility to ensure that our employees had the actual resources to complete their jobs. With better education and improvement of skill sets, we also found that employees became empowered to seek promotion and operate more productively.
Aligning Goals
Over the course of this early process, we also surveyed our employees to find out what was and was not working for them in the office space. The positive side of what we found is that in really listening and giving more power to our employees through the team structures and tasking, we were also finding an organizational alignment with their personal goals. The result was that within the vision of the company, the employees’ vision is also being recognized.
In general, it is important for companies to begin to realize that employee goals and company goals do follow a same path. In communicating with and empowering employees, this alignment can become better defined, and the result is a collaborative vision of growth and prosperity, which is always mutually beneficial.
