How Often Should You Meditate?

April 5, 2021 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

How Often Should You Meditate? One of the fundamental concepts of soulful leadership is a belief in and encouragement of meditation. At Technalink, we clearly understand the benefits since it can help maintain concentration and focus. It’s excellent at stress management.

But when should meditation take place? Is there such a thing as too much of it, or not enough?
That’s the right amount of meditation during the day?

Addressing Your Needs

The first and most important thing to understand is that meditation should accentuate your daily life, not become another significant commitment you feel obligated to follow. Many people fall off the path of a strict fitness routine due to the amount of time and dedication required to see results.

Meditation doesn’t have to be like this. Meditation can occur in the span of as little as five minutes; it doesn’t have to be an hour-long—or hours-long—session, though it can be. The important thing is not the frequency of meditation, so much as getting something worthwhile when you do take part.

Finding Your Rhythm

In this sense, the regularity of meditation should fit your schedule. It’s recommended, however, that you practice and “get good at it,” which usually means making it a daily habit. For soulful leadership, the duration of that daily habit is entirely up to you.

Everyone will have different levels of tolerance for meditation. Some may be comfortable with 10-15 minutes but find the activity unproductive after 20. Others may only have the time for five-minute intervals in between meetings.

It is recommended that you get to know yourself and understand when it does you the most good. Effective soulful leadership will take advantage of meditation to reduce stress when required, maintain focus if desired, and make sure that employees also take advantage of the benefits. What may seem like a few minutes of unproductive downtime can turn into maintaining an efficient, productive workday.
