Care And Cleaning Of Your Mala Prayer Beads Women in business might find themselves traveling, moving, and getting things done at any hour. While this is cause for plenty of stress for many, mala prayer beads are a tool one can use to lower stress and bring you back to center whenever you need it most. Soulful leadership is a journey, and moving forward on that journey requires clarity and compassion, both of which can be difficult to attain when in a stressed or overwhelmed state. Taking your mala prayer beads along with you on your many professional and personal journeys can lead to your beads accumulating dirt and damage, but knowing how to clean and care for your beads will keep them going for many years. Our teams at Technalink take special care of their mala beads using the following simple steps:

• Fill a bowl with warm water and gentle soap – According to CleanBee, the first step is filling a bowl with warm water and a gentle cleansing soap. Because the beads are handled regularly, the oil on the hands can cause dirt accumulation and cause the beads to break down prematurely, so a gentle soak can help to remove any debris and leave your beads shining and strong. You’ll want to leave your beads in the gentle soak for a number of hours, with some who may wish to leave their beads soaking overnight.

• Delicate scrub – After your beads have soaked, the next step is a gentle scrub. You may use a delicate brush like an extra soft toothbrush to scrub the beads, ensuring that you remove any oil or debris that did not clear itself during the soaking process. Make sure to use a soft and gentle scrub brush, as anything harsh or still can scratch or damage the surface of your beads.

• Allow to dry – You don’t want to expose your mala beads to excess heat or roughness, so allowing to dry on a soft towel or cloth overnight is best. Once your beads are fully dry, you may wish to gently rub coconut or sandalwood oil onto the beads to ensure lasting strength. When some materials are washed they may dry out and become brittle, and this oil ensures this doesn’t become an issue for your beads.
