Remember Your Passion

April 4, 2018 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

Remember Your PassionSoulful leadership is many things, from ethical business practices, to taking a compassionate stance towards yourself and your employees. But all of this hinges what reasons there are for your decision to get into business for yourself. And true success is going to depend entirely genuine passion.

Success Is Not Passive

No one should ever start up a business because they “couldn’t think of anything better to do,” that’s a sure recipe for failure, and a tendency to give up once things become tough. The people who really make their first, third, or even fifth attempt at business finally succeed is the people who are moved to start a business because of something they genuinely believe in.

In other words, if you’re excited about the service or product that you’re bringing to the business, that is the fuel that is going to sustain you as you encounter the obstacles, challenges and opportunities that place themselves in your path on your business journey. Passion is not just a trendy catchphrase that is dropped at seminars and self-improvement courses. Passion is the very basis of commitment, and commitment is what is going to make it possible for one business person to succeed over another.

Find Your Passion

As you go through your business day, dealing with issues like growth, or handling the concerns of HR administration, it can feel like business is more about tedium than anything else. But if you can take some time to stop, and remember what it was that got you excited about entering this sector in the first place, that little bit of motivation during the day can make all the difference.

You wanted to get into business for a reason. You wanted to make something, or do something for others, perhaps both. But ultimately it was your individual way of making a difference. Holding onto that is a cornerstone of soulful leadership.
