Can I Meditate In Noisy Areas?

January 19, 2018 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

Can I Meditate In Noisy Areas?Meditation is a great way to get your work/life balance back into check, but this may require a person to meditate in places not often thought to be the most peaceful. Busy trains, buses, airplanes, or in noisy homes aren’t what most consider the ideal places for meditation, but we at Technalink know that you don’t need silence to clear your mind. Using your mala prayer beads, meditation beads, or loose stones like garnet gemstones, you can meditate from absolutely anywhere you see fit.

Meditation in a noisy area may take a little extra practice, but after a short period of time you will get the hang of what to do. At first, you may want to have earbuds with soothing music, ear plugs, or even noise canceling headphones on hand until you get your mind used to meditation around a lot of activity, and that’s perfectly okay. These tools can be used right along with your meditation tools to give you just the environment you need to soothe yourself and relax.

Once you’ve moved past using these noise canceling aids, it’s actually quite easy to allow the sound to simply be. Your natural reaction to the sound will be to fight it, but by doing so you’re actually causing yourself stress and blocking your mind from keeping clear. Instead of fighting the sound, recognize it, acknowledge it, and allow it to exist, while focusing solely on your breathing and clearing your own mind. Doing this will help to put the sound out of your conscious, and you’ll quickly realize you’ve stopped paying any mind to it at all.

Lastly, focus on your mindfulness and introspection, and this will help your mind to switch focus away from the sound and onto your meditative state. This mindfulness may be on the sound at first, but you’ll quickly find that it moves smoothly to your breathing, feelings within your body, and your emotional state instead of the sound around you.
