Workplace Meditation 101

September 11, 2017 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

Workplace Meditation 101 There are numerous things that can help you grow and evolve your company into something amazing, but here at Technalink we’ve found that one of the most important things to give attention to is the growth and development of your employees. That applies to their professional enrichment, of course, but also to their personal growth as well.

That’s where workplace meditation can come into play. By utilizing meditation in the workplace, you provide your company and your employees with numerous benefits. As such, it’s worth taking a closer look at this excellent path to a brighter future for your business.

The Benefits

First, it’s worth understanding a few of the benefits offered by meditation. Consider the following.

  • Meditation helps provide lower levels of stress and worry. This can help employees focus more intently on their job instead of on the stresses that can come with it, improving productivity.
  • Workplace meditation can help employees find their center and latch to it, making it simpler for them to become better employees and better people overall.
  • It is also able to reduce the risk of employee conflicts by helping calm and relax employees. Conflicts in the workplace can be of huge detriment to forward progress, and more relaxed, mindful employees are less likely to let minor issues explode into major ones.
  • Finally, meditation time in the workplace can help build morale and loyalty by showing your employees that they truly matter to you.

How To Do It

Introducing meditation into the workplace isn’t difficult, either. A few simple tips can help.

  • Set up a short block of five, ten, or fifteen minutes each day that is for personal growth, reflection, and meditation. This can help destress even those who don’t meditate, but for those who do it will be instrumental in improving the day.
  • Provide meditation instruction to those who are unclear on what to do. You don’t need to hire someone to lead each session – a short video or some literature on how to meditate successfully is usually enough.
  • Offer items like meditation beads or garnet stones to your team. These meditation beads can help simplify the meditation process and allow your employees to better find their center during their meditations.

Simply put, meditation can improve productivity, reduce turnover rates, and help your business be all that it can be. Best of all, it’s easy to implement into the workplace. From five minute breaks for meditation to the use of meditation beads, it’s something worth considering.
