An Honest Leader Is A Better Leader

November 14, 2016 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

An Honest Leader Is A Better Leader When it comes to being the best possible leader that you can be, there are a lot of things that can spring to mind. Skills, a clear vision, the ability to lead with confidence, and a willingness to put forth time and energy into everything are all important qualities for modern business leaders.

However, here at Technalink we’ve found that while things like compassionate leadership and being skilled at the job are vital, another thing is as well – honesty. Being a truly honest leader will have a huge impact on a company’s success in several ways including the following.

  • Honesty helps show employees how to be better at their own job. Leading by example helps inspire, creating a situation where employees look up to their leaders for how to act.
  • An honest leader is able to provide more compassionate leadership, too. When you’re honest and upfront with your employees, you are better able to lead them in a way that is fair, balanced, and understanding.
  • You get more back from your team when you’re using honesty as your policy. Primarily, when they see that you’re being honest with them, it’s more likely that they will in turn give you feedback, ideas, and even complaints that are entirely honest. IN doing so, you get a better idea of how your company is truly working.
  • Honesty also helps boost productivity and performance. For example, when an employee is given full credit for their actions, it helps them feel as though they’re valued and shows others that their efforts won’t go unnoticed. This in turn helps them feel motivated to do better – they know that their leader won’t steal credit and will instead give them the recognition that should come from a job well done.
  • Honesty helps build a stronger brand in the mind of consumers, partners, and employees. When you’re known as being a straightforward, honest leader, it translates to better image in the mind of all those who are involved with you and your company.

The simple fact is that being an honest leader translates to being a better leader. From more compassionate leadership to being able to stand out in the minds of everyone as someone that they can trust, it’s something well worth paying attention to when working on being the best leader you can be.
