Show Your Employees That You Care

April 13, 2016 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

Show Your Employees That You CareWhen you think of ways to improve your company, you’ll probably consider things like better marketing strategy or a new product line to introduce. You may even consider things like your overall infrastructure for various aspects of your daily operations. But are you taking the time to do something as simple as showing your employees that you care about them and value their contributions to your business? At Technalink, we’ve found that this is incredibly important but often overlooked.

Luckily, there are several steps you can take that aren’t that difficult which can really lead to better overall employee morale and provide them with a feeling that they are really appreciated. Doing so can help improve employee retention, boost morale, and raise productivity levels. Here are some things you can do.

  • Set up a feedback system that allows your team to provide you with feedback on areas that they feel could be improved. This can be done entirely anonymously in order to get the most honest responses, or can be done in monthly meetings. However you do it, be sure to listen to what they have to say.
  • Give credit where credit is due, and never try to gloss over someone’s hard work. If someone makes a major contribution or does something that truly stands out, honor them in some way. From cash bonuses to just a brief in-office recognition, it can make them feel like they’re truly valued.
  • Don’t hesitate to set up different incentive programs that can directly benefit your entire team. Things like memberships at a local gym, daily stress relieving sessions in the office, healthy eating tips, and other basic systems can help show your employees that you value their health and want them to approve.
  • Get out of your office and out there with them. Employees who see their team leader working right alongside them and who have a business leader who engages with them and enjoys their job will often feel increased morale about their situations.
  • Be compassionate. Sometimes things happen that are out of our control. From a loss of a loved one to a sudden sickness to a babysitting emergency, it’s important that you’re compassionate when a problem arises for one of your team members. Time away from work is sometimes just a must, and being punished for it isn’t something your team will appreciate.
  • Stay positive. This is the one that can’t be stressed enough. When you bring positivity into the workplace, you’ll help show your team that they are arriving in a healthy work environment. Nobody wants to be stuck in a job with an angry boss or with a negative overall vibe, and you have a big part in that.

If you’ll keep these simple tips in mind you should be able to improve the overall feel of your work environment. It can make a difference in more than you think.
