Discovering When Change Results In Personal And Professional Growth

September 30, 2015 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

Discovering When Change Results In Personal And Professional GrowthOne of the more important things that new business owners are often faced with is expectations. These can really come from anywhere, including internal perceptions that people have of what success means, and external input that could inform a very misleading picture. While internal expectations are a large challenge to overcome, having the impression that successful business owners simply happen as one increasing slope of achievements can also become a big obstacle.

In working with our professional clients at Technalink, we often hear the stories about how up and down the process can be. In fact, most of our Technalink staff has their own stories regarding when times looked bleak. However, what is more important than the sudden downswings and changes in profits is actually what these changes can mean to real growth.

It’s Not About Getting There

Ultimately, a successful person or company is one that is able to weather fallow times and still see opportunity in both the present and the future. The truth is that most successful people did not start out with the appearance of success. Billion dollar companies have been started in dorm rooms and garages, but the fact that their owners took the energy and the vision to pursue the idea is what has changed the manifestation of success.

Another important recognition is that all companies, owners, and just people, go through cycles. There will be up times, but there will also be points where it feels hopeless and overwhelming. However, these can also be the times when the most work gets done.

One of our favorite phrases at Technalink when we are facing a challenge is, it’s not about getting there, it’s about how you travel the path. Of course, this can be practically interpreted in many ways, but one of the stronger messages that it carries is the idea that everyone gets down, but it’s whether you can pick yourself back up again that is the important part.

Taking Change As A Personal Message

This can also make it very important for any person to be willing to embrace change as an opportunity to move to greater achievements. While it can be easy to feel defeated or lost in times of change, this does not mean that it needs to be your default emotion. Using the time or space to regroup and focus on self also means that you are building a personal foundation for continued growth.

Simply stressing about the changes that are happening is just trying to get to wherever you think you need to be. In accepting and utilizing the space that change can offer, then you are learning to walk your own path, and this will lead to the realization of goals.

At Technalink, one of the ways that we help to reinforce this positive energy is by seeing any form of change as an opportunity. By approaching the situation without judgment, we can also each gain the lesson that was meant in the experience. This not only helps our business to sustain, but it also empowers our staff to take a chance on personal growth through change.
