Inspiring A Passion For Progress In The Workplace

May 25, 2015 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

At Technalink, we are often asked about the secret to business success. The truth is that there is no single answer that can apply, especially since growth is about constant change. However, the passion that every employee and owner carries into the workplace is an integral part of success. This is because the joy that is expressed through passion for a project is also an openness to collaboration, cooperation, and growth.

Inspiring passion in others is also both active and passive on the part of a business owner. The active aspect comes from how you carry yourself, how you conduct your business, and your own integrity in remaining mindful and connected with the process of growth. By expressing this action through your own behavior, you are also passively informing employees with observational learning.

From a cognitive approach, this process for learning very much engages the individual to become present for self. This is because the behavior that is witnessed is integrated as part of the personal experience. In this manner, your passion for the company inspires a similar approach from others, without any active control, but with a resonance of like energies instead.

Personal Progress

Inspiring passion in others also means being able to listen and validate both ideas and concerns. When others see that change and progress are possible, they are also more likely to engage in actions that support further change. This is because an easily overlooked facet of passion is also hope, including the hope for a better life, a better future, and better prosperity. When owners empower employees through the validation of ideas, they are also sending the message of hopefulness that further encourages the individual spirit to continue to aspire.

It can be important to understand that progress is never an end point, but an ongoing journey that can take many twists and turns. What may appear as a set-back is actually an opportunity to explore new directions, so the manner in which you handle challenges will also contribute to the passion that is felt by employees for furthering the journey. This turns every situation into one of potential, and feeds the vigor that inspires manifest work behind that passion.

This is the place where change comes from, but also the place that supports empowerment, belief in self, and confidence in abilities. Talking with employees about what drives them is also a way to encourage this energy, since it does tap into mindfulness and self awareness about the motivation behind actions. These exchanges benefit the individuals and the company, since they inform others that they are a vital part of the overall process, and that their contributions do make a difference in growth.
