Working With Employees To Nurture Focus Through Intent

May 25, 2015 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

In any workplace setting, the dynamics between individuals can be responsible for how well the company operates. However, at Technalink, we have also noticed that sometimes changes in these dynamics may not appear to have any manifest cause, but are actually an expression of intent, either realized or otherwise. What is important about this observation is that it also points out that the precursors to our actions can impact the world around us.

Intent is truly the start of change, and this can be positive or negative, depending upon the amount of awareness that we hold regarding our thoughts and motivations. It should also be noted that intent is very different from an expectation, since intent is the emotional drive that pushes thought into action. This is part of why you may witness two people who appear to be behaving in the same manner, yet come to entirely different outcomes.

Lessons And Learning

When we are able to truly define and embrace our intent, we are also able to focus our energies more greatly on the positive outcome. Working with employees to nurture this type of focus is also an invitation to a personal journey, since it is an examination of what drives the self to accomplish and persevere. In this manner, nurturing is also a form of guidance to this realization, and one that allows the individual to make the discovery on their own.

Of course, business owners can find it challenging to guide without influence, but this also becomes a teachable lesson. Working with employees in this manner does ask that owners set their intent on the process, and not the outcome. However, doing this also provides an experiential teachable that others can learn from through both observation and participation.

Showing The Contrast

Role playing in the office can provide an ideal manner for nurturing focus through intent. In this process, it is important to illustrate how the emotion behind an action can influence the outcome. To this end, having employees experience how different feelings can alter the focus of communication and interactions also facilitates the ability to stay mindful of motivation and intent. The result is that self awareness informs the direction of the energy that is put out to the Universe, and by keeping a clear intent, the focus of progress and achieving goals also gains clarity.

It is also important to encourage employees to ask questions of themselves regarding intent. · Why am I doing this? · What is my attachment? · Are my feelings and actions in balance? · How is my motivation perceived?

All of these explorations invite greater focus in the workplace, since they personalize the experience for the individual. The result is that a clearer understanding of intent becomes a direct message in the energy that is presented to others.
