Zero In On Your Focus And Concentration

Zero In On Your Focus And Concentration Leadership, especially spiritual leadership, can take quite a bit of clarity and focused concentration. However, how do you go about zeroing in on that focus when there is so much going on around you all of the time? At Technalink, when our teams find themselves feeling more forgetful, stressed, or experiencing feelings of anxiety, we encourage them to take a step back, assess the situation, and give their focus a bit of much-needed attention. A few ways to really focus are:

• Focus on sleep – Sleep is one of the single best things you can do for your focus and concentration during any given day. Sleep deprivation is a proven disruptor of concentration and focus, starting you off on the wrong foot from the very beginning of your day. Aim to structure a bedtime routine for yourself and your own well-being, give yourself time to wind down in the evening, and treat your sleep as if it’s just as important as a meeting or another appointment.

• Carry a focus object – Like anxiety, which has a tendency to creep up on you throughout the day, focus doesn’t just switch on and switch off. You might find yourself concentrating and “on your game” to start the day, but that feeling slowly tapers off as the day wears on – why? All of the tasks you’re juggling, all of the thoughts going through your mind, they’re all taking a toll on your concentration.

In times like these, you may just need a little reminder. A small focus object, like a grounding piece of Tiger’s Eye, that you can keep in your pocket gives you a reminder you can call upon anywhere and at any time. When you feel the frenzy beginning to take away from your focus, take a few seconds to touch the object, focus on the feeling of it in your hands, and center your thoughts back to the present.

• Use a timer – The egg timer you keep on your kitchen stove might have more power than you realize. Rather than multitasking and putting more on your plate, you can dedicate time to one task, then move on to the next when the timer runs up. For those who struggle with keeping focus during busy times, it’s a concrete way to keep you on one task at a time.

When you’re focused, you’re at your best. You’re able to stay in the present, and you’re able to use all of your talents to their full potential. By providing yourself with a bit of self-care and authentically realizing your strengths and weaknesses, you could have better focus than ever before.
