Are You Centered?

May 22, 2023 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

Are You Centered? First and foremost – what does it mean to be centered? Being at your center is being at your peace, or being in a state where you can observe the world around you authentically and at your highest self. You’re present in the present moment, and you’re taking the world as it comes at you, rather than allowing the world to control your personal well-being.

Determining your own level of center takes some authentic self-reflection. At Technalink we encourage our teams to take a step outside of themselves, and to look back in without bias to see just where they stand, how they feel, and what state their well-being may be in. Getting back to center is always possible, but it takes authentically determining how far you are from it first.

If you find yourself feeling “off”, chances are it’s the result of being far from your center. It could be an excess of stress or anxiety, it could be the creeping back of emotional wounds, and it could also be the result of an off-work life balance. No matter what the cause is, a few ways to help to bring yourself back closer to your center are:

• Focus on breathing exercises – Our breath is our life, and it’s a concrete way to focus on your center and bringing you to a grounded state. Focusing on breathing exercises like box breathing can help to wash away the outside forces pulling you away from a centered state, keeping you grounded and in the present moment.

• Take a walk – Like breathing exercises, taking a walk is a highly effective way to practice concrete grounding. As you walk you can focus on the air around you, the sun shining on your skin, the feeling in your body as you move, and the sounds you hear. It’s a sensory way to bring your focus to the present, and therefore bring you closer to your center.

• Stop and listen – Listening is another way to center yourself when outside stresses begin to take over. A soothing playlist gives you something in the present to focus on. Alternatively, The OM Factor now on audiobook focuses on ways to bring you back to a meaningful center and provides an excellent reminder of the power you hold within.

You’re at your best when you’re at your center. Living in the present gives you a way to enhance your spiritual leadership, take control of your sense of self, and view yourself authentically no matter what life may throw your way.
