Technalink has always believed that maintaining some aspect of spirituality in your life is essential for healthy living. Meditation is often a popular way to achieve this for many people, but there are different types of meditation to take part in. While traditional sitting and breathing exercises are the most common, there’s another that might be a better fit for some, and that’s walking meditation.
Movement Can Be Focus
As has been said before, spirituality is a personal experience, and that means that maintaining it can be different for people based on their needs, preferences, and personal circumstances. Mindfulness is simply a matter of focusing on the present and being aware of it, immersed within it, instead of being lost in an inner monologue of thoughts.
For some, sitting and performing slow breathing exercises may not work. Walking, however, is a perfectly viable way to meditate. This is about maintaining mindfulness through the act of movement. Instead of being aware of just your breath, you are now aware of your environment as you move through it, the sensations of the ground under your feet, and the air in the immediate locality.
Many Health Benefits
Of course, in addition to being a good way to maintain your spirit, walking meditation also provides an incredibly healthy, low-impact exercise that can burn calories and maintain physical fitness as well. So if the more common sitting meditation exercises don’t work, it could be that you’re one of the people who would benefit more from trying a walking exercise.
It may also be that typical meditation exercises might work better for you with the right tools or a different kind of focus. For some, this may come in the form of meditation aids or accessories like agate prayer stones. It’s just a matter of taking the time to explore your preferences and then meeting them.
