The Effect Of Meditation On Anxiety

February 24, 2025 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

The Effect Of Meditation On Anxiety According to the National Institute of Mental Health, around 31% of American adults deal with chronic anxiety at some point in their lives. One of the leading causes of chronic anxiety is chronic stress, which is why we at Technalink encourage our teams to stay on top of stress by using mindfulness, self-care, and maintaining a healthy work/life balance.

If your stress has lead to anxiety, it’s important to know that you’re not alone. It’s also important to realize that there are things you can do to alleviate these feelings of anxiety in a highly effective way – most notably, meditation. The OM Factor, now on convenient audiobook, shares tools and strategies with you if you’re struggling with finding that center you need in order to combat the anxiety you feel.

Meditation is a way you can step away from the hustle and bustle of your mind. The human mind can grow noisy, and this noise grows louder and louder often without you even realizing it. Before you know it, it’s a din you can hardly break away from when you need quiet to think. Meditation is that quiet; it’s your way to turn the volume down in your mind and reset yourself back to a healthy center space.

There are several different approaches you may take to meditation for anxiety. A few strategies that have proven beneficial for many include:

• Mindfulness meditation – Mindfulness meditation centers around the ability to focus on the present. There is no judgement, no controlled thought, just an observation of the thoughts that go through your mind and the environment around you. This brings you back to the present, naturally forcing your anxious thoughts to take a backseat.

• Body scan meditation – Body scan meditation is when you tell your mind to focus on different parts of the body. It keeps your mind and body in tune with one another, therefore anchoring the mind to the present in a concrete way. Allow your mind to scan your head, neck, shoulders, chest, and all the way down the body, taking in and observing the sensations felt in each.

• Guided meditation – Guided meditation is one of the easiest and most effective methods for those new to practice. Guided meditation can use mantras, affirmations, mala prayer beads, or any other tool to guide you through a meditative session. As you’re guided through your mediation session, you’ll be able to focus on the guidance, allowing you to quiet your mind.
