Is Your Leadership The Reason Employees Are Leaving?

May 10, 2024 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

Is Your Leadership The Reason Employees Are Leaving? In the last few years, many industries have been affected by “The Great Resignation”. In 2022, a survey from Microsoft found that 41% of workers were seriously considering quitting their jobs or changing professions. This Great Resignation is something that is still affecting industries today- but why?

In the business world, many leaders don’t realize that conscious leadership matters. Employees are leaving businesses they feel aren’t appreciating them, listening to them, or encouraging their ambition, which are all issues that can be fixed by adopting a more soulful leadership style. A few additional reasons why employees may feel as though the grass is greener on the other side are:

• Setting inconsistent expectations – Employees want to know what is expected of them. At Technalink, we prioritize goal-related conversations for this very reason. Be consistent and clear with your goals and expectations and hold yourself accountable as a leader.

• Your leadership is hindering their process – You hired your employees because you saw in them their talent and potential. Soulful leadership means learning to trust this talent. Micromanaging tasks may hinder their process, which in turn will disallow them from meeting goals or growing over time.

• Refusing to challenge employees – Leaders who can’t seem to give up power in favor of working together may also refuse to challenge their employees. Providing challenging and educational tasks means giving up those tasks themselves and handing them to the team. When employees feel unchallenged, they’re more likely to look elsewhere.

• Failing to provide a psychologically safe space – Employees should never go to work each day feeling emotionally strained, anxious, or depressed. Mental well-being is important, and creating a culture where this is prioritized shows your employees how much you value their presence and their health in the workplace.
