How Well Are You Harnessing Motivation?

March 22, 2024 by Alka Dhillon Leave a Comment

How Well Are You Harnessing Motivation? That spark of inspiration is a beautiful feeling. You have the desire to innovate, and you’re excited to get together to further your idea into reality. Whether at work or at home, it’s that motivation that drives us forward to achieving more than we ever thought possible. If only it were as easy as feeling that spark every day or with every project.

You’re not going to get that spark of inspiration every time, and that’s okay. What successful women in business do is learn to create that spark themselves, and to harness motivation to use it whenever they need it. The result is incredible; it gives you the ability to feel motivated and inspired no matter what task you’re putting your mind to. It could be a somewhat dull organization project at home, and you can make yourself feel as though you’re about to do something extraordinary.

One of the easiest ways to harness motivation is to break whatever task you need to do into simple steps, so you always have an end point right on the horizon for yourself. It’s much easier to feel inspired when you can see the finish line you’ve created. When you reach each finish line, give yourself a small reward. It could be as simple as five minutes of mindful meditation time, a social media break, a snack, or whatever you enjoy that makes you happy. Once you’ve hit that small goal, set a new one, reward yourself again, and repeat until you’ve reached the actual finish.

Another strategy is to make yourself a questionnaire and answer your questions authentically each time you’re working on a project in the office or at home. Ask yourself questions like:

  • What is my end goal?
  • Why is this goal important to you?
  • What is the result if the goal is met?
  • What will your end reward be?

Keep your answers short, and don’t overcomplicate them. When you feel a slip in motivation, return to your answers to get back in gear to keep pushing forward.

At Technalink we recognize the power of motivation and we encourage our teams to learn to harness this power so it can become a reserve they can tap into at any time. When you learn how to use motivation to your advantage, your potential is truly limitless.
