3 Ways To Better Resolve Everyday Conflicts In The Workplace

3 Ways To Better Resolve Everyday Conflicts In The Workplacen management, even spiritual management, you’re going to find a good portion of your time focuses on resolving conflict. When different minds meet, you can expect some type of conflict to arise at some point, and how you approach and remedy this conflict makes a huge impact on your success going forward. Soulful leadership is all about approaching this conflict with empathy and compassion, and we at Technalink have experienced the results firsthand. 3 ways to better resolve everyday conflicts in the workplace are:

1. Start with facts, not emotion – Resolving conflict with facts can help you to keep impartial and find a real working solution to the underlying problem at hand. Not only should you approach the situation factually in your soulful leadership, but you should encourage both parties to do so as well. Naturally, as with any conflict, emotions will be running high, but breaking down the problem rationally can help to remove emotion from the equation in order to see the picture in full. This doesn’t mean one should ignore what they’re feeling, but keeping these feelings separate from the resolution process can help to keep the problem-solving simple, accurate, and unbiased.

2. Have healthy curiosity – When resolving conflict, there will be a story A, a story B, and a story C which is a combination of the two and probably the most accurate. Having a healthy sense of curiosity and asking plenty of questions in order to connect all the dots into one cohesive story is important to finding the real solution to the problem at hand.

3. Honesty with empathy – Honest communication is important, but brutal honesty is just that – brutal. When honesty is brutal it’s going to want to make both parties less likely to embrace open and honest communication with you, which is just what you don’t want in a conflict resolution scenario. Rather than being brutal, show empathy while sharing your honest viewpoints and make sure to take the time to listen.
